The Landscaping Services team manages the award-winning university grounds, spread across multiple sites in the city and surrounding campuses. We maintain and develop incredible green spaces and contribute directly to the student and staff experience by providing a diverse range of outdoor spaces. A virtual tour will give you a glimpse of life on our Highfield campus.
We encourage a variety of wildlife on site and have achieved hedgehog friendly status for our campuses. We encourage organic practices wherever possible, contributing to a more sustainable future.
A valued role within our small, friendly team of landscapers who aim to provide a high quality service while respecting the management and upkeep of all University grounds and landscaped areas.
This role will consist in carrying out the cultivation of the soil, the manure, the preparation of the site; planting and surgery of trees, shrubs, plants, sod, grass seedlings, grass mowing and new planting schemes. Operation and adjustment of modern machinery including tractors, riding mowers, walk behind mowers and other horticultural equipment to ensure optimum performance. You will work in a variety of green spaces, including structured and seasonal planting, woodlands, valley gardens and waterfront gardens.
We are looking for an experienced gardener who has a passion for horticulture and is a good team player with a positive attitude. Ideally, you will have practical knowledge and skills in the use of horticultural maintenance machinery, but training can be provided if you have gardening experience and a desire to learn. You will thrive working outdoors in all weathers and always follow safe work practices.
