The Garden Dept., a wholesale nursery and horticultural distributor, was acquired by Georgia-based SiteOne Landscaping Supply.

Terms of the contract are not disclosed.

Founded in 1976, The Garden Dept. is a third generation nursery with locations in Coram, Dix Hills and Speonk that provides landscaping and landscaping products to commercial and residential customers.

SiteOne, a publicly traded company known as John Deere Landscapes prior to its IPO in 2016, has more than 500 locations across North America. The chain is a wholesale distributor of irrigation products, landscape lighting, nurseries, landscaping, maintenance products and supplies for the green industry and golf and maintenance professionals. grass.

SiteOne already had six sites on Long Island. In 2016, the chain acquired Bissett Nursery Corp. and Bissett Equipment Corp., a 53-year-old family landscaping company that operated in Holtsville and Dix Hills.
